Laser-assisted minimally invasive non-surgical therapy(LAMINST) for treating intrabony defect in esthetic area

Conventional mechanical treatment has various limitations in techniques and effects, and lasers have been introduced as an adjunctive or alternative tool for mechanical therapy. Laser therapy is well accepted by patients as a minimally invasive procedure that potentially reduces the necessity of subsequent periodontal flap surgery. Moreover, minimally invasive non-surgical periodontal therapy (MINST) has been introduced as a concept aiming to obtain extensive subgingival debridement with minimal tissue trauma. Thus, a novel approach of laser-assisted minimally invasive non-surgical therapy (LAMINST) has been introduced and the therapeutic potential for periodontal regeneration needs further evaluation. The protocol of LAMINST is based on MINST (Ribeiro et al. 2011) and modified by Erbium:Yttrium-Aluminium-Garnet (Er:YAG) laser-assisted comprehensive periodontal pocket therapy( Er-LCPT, Aoki et al. 2010) . Erbium,Chromium:Yttrium-Scandium-Gallium-Garnet (Er,Cr:YSGG) laser (2780 nm) was adjunctively used through the therapy.
